Hiking Philosophy

Hiking lets me breathe. It is good for my physical, mental and spiritual well-being. In nature, I can be who I am, just a person . I am not asked a bunch of questions. Nature does not rise up to meet me or shy away. I can release the labels and emotions I receive from home and work. I can leave judgement and expectations in the car and just walk. It is a faucet that drains away my stress. On a good day hike, I can burn 800 calories and actually enjoy it.

The Paths We Travel

Almost all the hiking trails we cover are in the state of Georgia, USA. I have been hiking for 40 years here and the trails cover the state's ecosystems; from the Ridge and Valley of the Appalachian Mountains to the Lower Coastal plains south of Savannah.  There a few exceptions, to include the Hoh River as well as the Great Smoky Mountains as well.

Join Me On The Trail

Posting pictures and videos on the trails I hike, allows others to view and enjoy who might not have the opportunity. I love stories of the trail. If you have any you wish to share, please contact me below.

Hiking Checklist 123

This is not to be taken lightly. There are no convenience stores in the woods and proper preparation makes the difference of enjoying being out with nature or hating every minute of it. Plus, if you are taking kids, a spouse, a significant other or some friends for the first time, you want their experience to be a good one (you never get a second chance to make a good first impression).
